West Bengal Primary Education Board has issued notification which invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of Primary Teacher vacancies in West Bengal to fill up 34559 vacancies in Govt. Aided/ Sponsored Primary/ Junior Basic Schools under District Primary Council/ Primary School Council in various Districts of West Bengal.

West Bengal Primary Teacher recruitment pay scale and eligibility details

Pay scale: The salary for Primary Teacher vacancies in West Bengal will be 5400-25200 with Grade Pay as admissible and other allowances as per norms.

Educational qualification: Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with 50% marks and should have done Diploma in Elementary Education (or) Higher Secondary pass or its equivalent with 45% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with NCTE (or) Higher Secondary pass or its equivalent with 50% marks and Diploma in Education (Special Education) (or) Graduate candidates with 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (or) Ability to read, write and speak the language relating to the medium they wish to apply for.

Age limit: The age limit for West Bengal Primary Teachers should be between 18 to 40 years as on 01.01.2012. However the upper age limit relaxation will be as per norms.

Selection process, exam pattern and syllabus for West Bengal Primary Teachers vacancies

The selection is based on TET exam conducted by National Council for Teacher Education and the candidates who scores 60% or above are considered as pass in TET and 5% marks relaxation is allowed for SC/ST/OBC/PH/EC candidates. The West Bengal TET exam consists of five section which carries 100 marks and the details are as follows.
Section I - Child Development - 20 marks
Section II - Language I - 20 marks
Section III - Language II - 20 marks
Section IV - Mathematics - 20 marks
Section V - Environmental Science - 20 marks

The qualified candidates in the written examination will be called for Viva-voce/Interview which carries 10 marks.

So candidates will be selected based on academic, training, TET scores, extra curricular activities and through interview process for which the evaluation will be done as per the following schedule.

Madhyamik examination - 10 marks
Higher Secondary - 15 marks
Training - 20 marks
TET - 40 marks
Extra curricular activity - 5 marks
Viva-voce or Interview - 10 marks

West Bengal Primary Teacher recruitment application form and procedure to apply

Eligible interested candidates need to obtain application form for West Bengal Primary Teacher recruitment from the list of bank branches/CLRCs (North 24 Parganas) for which the link is given at the end of this article. The application form will be available from 16.11.2012 during bank hours till 30.11.2012. Candidates need to submit the filled in application form in the same branch from which they have collected the form. 

Applicants can apply for only one district only. The application forms should be collected as per eligibility and if you belongs to SC/ST then see to it whether the issuing authority has marked SC/ST on top of the application form. Candidates are requested to keep West Bengal Primary Teacher admit card safe as they will not get any duplicate copy. 

Candidates have to keep in mind the important dates for West Bengal Primary Teacher as the application forms will be available from 16.11.2012 to 30.11.2012 during working hours except Sundays and bank holidays.
